Daniel F. Laughlin


Dan is a Director in FGMK’s Specialty Tax Practice and is responsible for tax incentive engagements, including R&D Tax Credit, Work Opportunity Tax Credit, and Domestic Production Activities Deduction. He has worked with clients of various sizes and entity structures across numerous industries, including advanced manufacturing, financial services, insurance, and software.

Dan has extensive experience working with clients to identify projects and related expenditures that qualify for tax credits and deductions. He structures engagements to maximize tax benefits while minimizing any imposition on client operations. Dan works with his clients from the assessment phase through delivery. He also assists when audit defense is required.

Prior to joining FGMK 2016, Dan was a director at a Los Angeles-based firm where he focused on R&D, WOTC, and other federal tax incentives. He was previously a senior manager in the R&D and government incentives practice at a Big 4 firm in Chicago. Prior to his public accounting career, Dan served as a law clerk at the Illinois Appellate Court, First District.
